New Women series
Helen is continuing to build a body of work which is based upon nature, beauty and fragmentation. These new figure women elements are exploring how we perceive a cover girl model and how we dispose of it , exploring image, as a carcass devoid of feelings and personal story. The model is depicted as a form of contracted idealism on display as she is currently questioning the reality that we as viewers are consuming the sale of the model as a reward for a perfected life. This distortion of reality is being explored by an application of experimenting with oil transfers, collage and mixed media allowing the image to come away and distort , leaving traces of a human form as a image which is also falling away as nature does. She questions the paradox of their relationship as she does the continuous cycles of life and death and the complexities within her own personal expression and story.
